Roland Baumgartner was born in Boscobel, Wis. in 1910. He was a graduate of the State University at Madison, Wis. Baumgartner joined the 10th Mountain Division and served with the Quartermaster Battalion and with the 87th Infantry Regiment, Companies C and F. He was stationed at Camp Hale, Colo., Camp Swift, Tex. and Kiska Island, Alaska.
